Scrabble Word Checker
Type a word to see straight away whether it's playable, how many points it scores and what it means. You can check several words at once, separated by spaces or commas.

How the word checker works
It looks your word up in the ENABLE word list, a free list of about 172,000 words that many word games are built on, and shows the result instantly. The word list loads once, so every validity check happens instantly on your device; meanings are fetched from Wiktionary.
- Valid means the word is in ENABLE, so it's very likely accepted in Scrabble and Words With Friends.
- Broader list only means the word is real but rarer, and many games won't accept it.
- Not found usually means a name, an abbreviation, a very new word or a spelling mistake.
Each result shows the word's meaning from Wiktionary. Tap the word for its full page, with pronunciation, anagrams and more.

Scrabble dictionaries, explained
Word games don't all use the same list. North American Scrabble uses the NASPA Word List, most other countries use the larger Collins Scrabble Words, and Words With Friends keeps its own list. Everyday words are in all of them; they differ mostly on rare and new words.

Questions
How do I check if a word is valid in Scrabble?
Type it into the box above. The checker tells you straight away whether the word is in the ENABLE word list and shows its Scrabble and Words With Friends points.
Which dictionary does the word checker use?
The ENABLE word list, a free list of about 172,000 words that many word games are built on. It is not the official tournament dictionary, so a few new or rare words differ. Words found only in our broader list are marked separately.
Can I check more than one word at a time?
Yes. Type up to 20 words separated by spaces or commas, for example EM, QI, ZA.
Why does a word I know show as not found?
It may be a name, an abbreviation or a very new word, which word lists usually leave out. Check the spelling, then see the guide to which words are allowed.
Are the points the final score of my play?
No. They add up the letter values only. Bonus squares depend on where you place the word on the board.
