X is worth 8 points in Scrabble and Words With Friends, and it's one of the easiest heavy letters to play. There are 4,579 playable words with an X: 136 start with it and 358 end with it.

The easiest big play with an X

Put your X on a double or triple letter square so it makes two short words at once, one across and one down. For example, if an A sits to the left of the square and an I sits below it, the X makes AX across and XI down. The X scores in both words, so on a triple letter square that one tile is worth about 50 points.

The same trick works with OX, EX and XU. It's the main reason experienced players learn the two letter X words first.
